How to Mix Colors Using the Split/Double Primary System | Warm & Cool Primaries | Color Temperature

Colour wheel, take two: six primaries

Your first wheel had the right method. Greens, oranges and tints all worked. Only the violets failed, because Cadmium Red and Prussian Blue both carry hidden yellow. Painters fix this with a 'split primary' wheel: a warm and a cool version of each primary, mixing only the pairs that lean towards each other.
